On behalf of the organising committee I am excited to be able to invite you to join us at the New Zealand Institute of Chemistry Conference, being held at The University of Waikato, Hamilton from 27 November to 1 December 2011.

The Institute’s conference is always a memorable event but this conference is particularly significant, as it is being held during the very first “International Year of Chemistry” and will be a fitting conclusion to a year spent in celebration of all things chemical.

We are extremely fortunate to have five eminent international chemists, namely Professor’s Omar Yaghi, Duncan Bruce, Neil Ward, Michael Bowers and Bill Fenical as our keynote speakers for the conference. In addition, there will be a variety of local and international presentations, covering a wide range of topics from all areas of chemistry and related scientific pursuits.

I have no doubt that the programme will offer something of interest to everyone and also provide ample opportunities for you to meet with colleagues and exchange ideas. We also encourage you to enjoy Hamilton and the greater ‘Mighty Waikato’ through some of the social excursions we have organised and invite you to join us at the Conference Dinner to mix and mingle with fellow delegates in style, with the venue to be revealed soon.

As always, we are extremely grateful to the sponsors for their support and to any companies that may be anticipating coming on board this year.
