I am a Chemical Engineering Professor, long-time member of ACS, and past-chair of the I&EC Division and the Green Chemistry & Engineering Subdivision. I have worked in strategic planning for the Division, and (with the aid of colleagues) formulated and championed a new Graduate Student Award Symposium, to be offered for the first time in Denver in 2011. The Division wants to use this event to encourage graduate students to present their research, and especially targets research with industrial and engineering applications. We hope to encourage life-long participation in ACS activities, including scientific programming and service.
