BorsodChem Zrt. and the International Year of Chemistry 2011

As one of the leading chemical companies in Europe, we wish to celebrate the year. We plan a whole-year program set particulary for primary and secondary school children in Kazincbarcika, with their active involvment.

Our programs:

January - We published a special postcard which were distributed to all schoolchildren – approximately 7,000 - in the town. We also created an own page on Facebook for popularizing the program in the circle of young people.

February - As a funny starter of the program we are organising an Ice Carnival for the children with a pageant wearing fancy dresses.

April - The thoughtful part of the program will be the essay competition for the upper level primary school and secondary school children with the title ’The importance of plastics in our everyday lives.’ Besides this, for this age group we will organise a chemistry competition. The nursery school and lower primary school children can have a battle of their skills in the frame of a drawing and model competition.

June - On the World Environment Day we, hand in hand, will encompass the Kazincbarcika site with approximately 10,000 children. Of course the entertaining, playful competitions cannot be left out of the program which can key up the children’s interests towards chemistry. Considering this, we will organise a chemical roadshow and a big event for the schools on the last day of the school year.

October – November - Taking the aim of the year into consideration our traditional program called ’The chemical industry of the future, the future of chemical industry’ will be focused on more. We will keep on hosting schoolchildren for factory visits in order that they have the chance to get an insight into the interesting world of chemistry.

Our aim is to make as many pupils as possible know about chemistry, help their orientation towards the subject, by this contributing to the creation of the next generation of BorsodChem.
