About:

We are an organization working to propagate science through Marathi - regional language of Maharashtra state of India. Established in 1966. We undertake number of activities for school children, non-school going children, youth from colleges in and around Pune city. We also organize public lectures, seminars. Visits to places natural and man-made, of scientific importance. Publish articles in news papers, broadcast talks with the help of All India Radio, Pune, publish booklets on various topics in science. Organize science activity camps, film shows, science fairs, poster exhibitions, teachers' training camps. Our special annual activity is Vidnayn Ranjan Spardha - an open competition that encourages participants to search, discuss, find out, act, experiment to get to the answers of the questions asked. They are given 3 weeks to come with the answers. The winners are announced on the Indian National Science Day which lies on 28 February. Last year we had 1588 participants children of 10 years old to 82 year old adult, male as well as female, urban as well as rural. This year we are organizing activities related with chemical and chemical interactions which will require materials easily available in our households. We would like to share our experiences and get advantage of experiences of others in this matter. We are not funded by any government or private funding agencies. We run our activities with the help contributions from people who help us spread science though Marathi. We also try to find out (vidnyan) science uncovered in various activities done traditionally by (Marathi) the people of Maharashtra.
