About:

I am an assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry and Physics at the University of St. Thomas in Houston (UST), Texas. I teach courses in general chemistry, environmental chemistry and physical chemistry. My research interests are in fuel science and technology, especially pyrolysis and combustion of soild fuels like coal and biomass. I am also co-faculty advisor for the UST student affiliates chapter of the American Chemical Society (ACS).

I am a member of ACS, involved and serving locally as a director for the ACS Greater Houston Section and nationally as program chair for the Applied Chemical Technology Subdivision of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry.

My interests in IYC 2011 is to showcase the role of the chemical sciences in our everyday lives and to demonstrate the science of chemistry to the public. Our UST student chapter of the ACS is and has been involved in several outreach activities by peforming chemistry experiments to students of all ages.
