I am passionate about chemistry and opted voluntary retiremet from my past employer M/S Indian Overseas Bank purely for the sake of science promotion , especially chemistry. The best way to promote chemistry is to take it to young minds in the form of magic experiments which I have been doing since 1980. It even attracts adults too. Besides conducting demos, organising lectures highlighting the siginificant contributions of chemists in the past and present should also find a place in IYC celebrations. Presently i am thinking of staging atleast one event per month. visiting to schools and colleges and conducting demos, quiz (experimental type) and giving lectures to them is also in my mind. Videos / animations / cartoons can be of some help and I am looking for resources. Organising Public meetings can also help. whether they are going to yield fruits or not, I hope atleast they would create some awareness among the public.

These are all some ideas from my side. I will be happy and consider it a great previlege if I am considered part of UNESCO and IUPAC's efforts to promote IYC 2011.

Hope my appeal will be considered positively.
