About:
Chem Ed is a biennial conference aimed primarily at high school teachers and run entirely by volunteers. It is usually attended by 500-1000 teachers from 12-20 countries, and most especially those from Canada and the US. This will be hte 21st Chem Ed conference. It will be July 24-28, 2011, at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
We would like to become part of the International Year of Chemistry by becoming an official event. We would be willing to open the doors of our conference to the general public at least three times during the conference: the Sunday afternoon demonstration extravaganza, the Monday morning lecture and demonstration special presentation, and the closing talk on Thursday by a Nobel Laureat in Chemistry. We would publicize these in the local papers and media.
Would it be possible for us to be designated an IYOC event, and if so, to use the logo on our program and publicity? If so, could you send me confirmation of that and an electronic version of the logo to use?
