IYC Interests:Increase the public appreciation and understanding of chemistry
Encourage interest of young people in chemistry
Generate enthusiasm for the creative future of chemistry
As a chemistry teacher in a French high school, I have the project of organizing an international symposium for "Young Researchers of Natural Sciences" (YRoNS) in Spring 2011 in northern France.
This symposium would be the opportunity for high school students from different schools and countries to present orally a research project they have carried out, centering on chemistry as a central science and spanning out on related fields.
This symposium aims at increasing the interest of high school students in chemistry, giving them the opportunity to get involved in experimental research in sciences. It will also set an example of accomplishments in chemistry to fellow students, broadening their understanding of the field as well as of the inner works of research.
I wish The IYC 2011 will help this effort as well as increasing the interest and motivation of sciences and research.
