IYC Interests:Increase the public appreciation and understanding of chemistry
Encourage interest of young people in chemistry
Generate enthusiasm for the creative future of chemistry
My primary interest is in the foundations of the chemical thermodynamics, including the bridge between the physics of molecular interactions and chemical equilibrium in real gases and more dense fluids.
I am sure the computer aided analysis of experimental data accumulated in the databases on thermophysical properties of pure fluids can help to better understand the physic-chemical mechanisms of molecular interactions.
The existing models of these interactions are somewhat artificial; they are not confirmed enough by precise experiments, because the weak molecular interactions are shadowed by the thermal movements. But these interactions are very important both in modern technologies and in biochemistry.
And the computer processing of data from thermophysical databases can be a powerful tool to teach and learn thermodynamics and its applications in molecular physics, chemical physics, and physical chemistry.
I wish the IYC 2011 could inspire the interest of young students and researchers to work in chemical and material sciences that form the basis of modern civilization!
