About:

Since I am responsible for the Science Sector of the Portuguese Commission for UNESCO and also Focal Point for the United Nations Education for Sustainable Development, I am resposible to promote at a national level, the International Year of Chemistry - 2011.

By promoting the IYC, in Portugal, I hope to reach civil society, politicians/ decision-makers, scientists, students, teachers, ONG's, and many other actors to the importance and role of Chemistry in our daily lifes (public outreach) and be able to put them working together and share experiences and activities, as I have done regarding other events promoted by UNESCO, such as the International Year of Planet Earth (www.anoplanetaterra.org, the International Year of Biodiversity www.biodiversidade.pt and most of all the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Education www.unesco.pt).
