About:

I am interested in organizing a Conference or Congress for 2-3 days in the frame of The Year of Chemistry 2011 in Istanbul. The subject can be related to Natural Products, Medicinal Plants and Functional Foods and related areas.

One of the aims of this Conference should be to give more information to the people about functional foods and natural products, and the second is to emphasize the involvement of the women scientists in that area in Turkey. At least one day of the Conference should be dedicated to the celebration of the 80th Birthday of the Prof. Dr. Ayhan Ulubelen as the most well known and outstanding women scientist of Turkey who developed Natural Products Chemistry studies in Universities and made many contributions. I am one of older women graduate students.

As you may know she is retired, but she still actively works.

Prof. Ulubelen has been a productive researcher. She published over 300 papers. Among those 250 are published in ISI articles, most of them in Phytochemistry, J. Natural Products, and Planta Medica. Her works received over 2000 citations so far. In addition, she has written two textbooks in Turkish and eleven chapters in international books. Among her other contributions to science and science education her works in NATO Scientific Committee, Council of Turkish Academy of Sciences, and juri for L’Oreal – Turkey life sciences and in IUPAC, as a member to present of Turkey in General Assembly Meetings.
