About:
As a Coordinator of the Science and Math department of Saint George´s School I always try to design institutional projects that have to do with worldwide celebrations discussing the importance of humankind cooperation: 1) locally 2) regionally 3) globally; this enables children to become aware of the existence of other societies and people who are also trying to foster a more peaceful, sustainable and with more equal chances for everyone world.
Also, I believe that among many other things, getting involved in meaningful and relevant projects that can be tackled from many areas - including hands-on activities and observations carried out during science classes as part of a broader whole - is necessary for children to reflect about different processes and pose interesting questions which seem to arise when faced to different situations. Chemistry enables enriching and reflective classes where we may not only discuss different processes but also reflect about the importance of understanding them in order to use resources better and even to realize that things may be different from what we see or believe.
Discussion and critical reflections about problems encountered in everyday life regarding human and science are tackled trying to promote solidarity, cooperation and a certain understanding of problems being faced.
