About:

As a hands-on Science Centre we have in the region of 100 interactive science exhibits and exhibitions. Although chemistry is more difficult to incorporate into these type of exhibits we endeavour to include it in other activities such as children's workshops - we run 2 full day workshops for 6-9 years and 9+ years in the summer holidays. We also offer science shows as part of the visitor experience which on occasion will have an element of chemistry. We have also run hour long chemistry workshops for "Gifted and Talented" school groups. For IYC 2011 the Centre will be hosting a "Chemistry Festival Weekend" with stands hosting activities, workshops, science shows where the theme will be entirely based around chemistry and informal talks. The main focus of the weekend will be "Come and have a Go!" With further funding it is also anticipated that The Centre will offer short chemistry workshops for schools as part of their visit to The Sciece Centre during the Autumn/Winter term 2011.
