About:
I received my doctorate in December 1994 entitled 'The clinical biochemistry of aluminium'. I was inspired to share my enthusiasm for Chemistry and thus embarked on a teacher training course. When I qualified as a teacher I worked for seven years in East London teaching a diverse range of children which enriched my experience further than one would expect.
I relocated back to my home town in 2002 and became Head of Science of the largest school in Liverpool. Working in the 'tough' east end and transferring to a 'touch' inner city Liverpool school has allowed me to develop my key skills teachers need. My interest in 'Leadership and Management' also was enriched when I was voted to be a teacher governor at my school.
Whilst at the school I have had the opportunity to be involved in many whole school projects including the implementation of AfL, Independent Learning and Coaching to name but a few. I have also had the opportunity to work closely with John Moores University for Science Teacher Training and use to be a Quality Assurance Assessor until recently when I was seconded to a full-time position of Senior Science Lecturer in Science Education (Chemistry).
This has allowed me the opportunity to not only inspire children in the classroom but also trainees. If they are inspired by myself, then this ensures they will be able to instil enthusiasm in all the students they teach. And so the impact continues...
