About:

Centro de Química da Madeira (CQM) is a research unit located in the newest Portuguese University - Universidade da Madeira (UMa), Madeira Island, Portugal.

CQM’s research team at the end of 2008 was composed by 11 permanent Ph D members (9 from the Dep. of Chemistry and the Dep. of Health Sciences and 2 from R&D governmental Labs), 4 post-docs fellows, 18 registered co-workers (2 Ph Ds, 9 Ph D Students, 3 Master Students and 4 other graduate researchers) and one administrative staff member.

CQM’s main objective is to establish, in Madeira Island, a research unit with national and international recognition, able to enliven the R&D activities in Chemistry and Biochemistry and related scientific areas all over Madeira archipelago, as well as contributing for the national scientific production.

Furthermore, it is our aim to contribute for the post-graduate formation at the University of Madeira, as well as for promoting scientific culture among the general population (especially the young generations).
