I am a second year masters student at the University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada. My research is in synthetic organic chemistry.

Through my undergraduate and graduate experience I have noticed how the ratio between women and men is very different where men are in increased number. I have always been asking myself what seems to be the reason as to why women are so outnumbered. Noticing that IYC has a program where they promote and celebrate the role of women in chemistry has grabbed my interest and I would like to be part of such event.

Another interest of mine is to get students, mostly high school students, interested in chemistry and to have a desire to pursue a career in this field. Currently I have involved myself in a program called Let's Talk Science. What we do is promote science to all group ages starting from kindergarten to high school level. Going to classrooms and promoting how science is applicable in everyday life. Taking students to field trips and plenty more activities...

I feel that IYC is a great place to further get involved in the chemistry community and to develop and increase interest in the general public about chemistry.
