Thank you for this opportunity.

I am a university student in the Department of Chemistry and the President of Rwanda Chemistry Students' Association denominated AECHIRWA (Association des Etudiants Chimistes au Rwanda). I am really attracted with chemistry since I studied in Secondary School.

In our country, chemistry domain is some how neglected because in our association we realized that it is considered as if it is voiceless (chemists do not express their ideas of Chemistry and if they do it, no effect). Because of this, chemists are leaving slowly by slowly their specialization shifting to other domains. Even some Chemistry students are not satisfied, they do not love it. I can say that since the domain is not productive (in terms of money) chemists are discouraged.

I am very interested in the IYS 2011 hoping that if what I think, my projects, were implemented, it would motivate first of all young chemists who are still studying. They would be aware of the role of Chemistry in life and be motivated and encouraged to research and innovation. Other chemists would get awareness of what they should do to develop the domain of chemistry and contribute to the sustainable development of the country.

I wish if i become part of the IYS directory I will provide my contribution through the above cited way in order that chemistry become valuable in Rwanda. I recognize the role of chemistry in development of a country and making life better.
