The Uk's Royal Society of Chemistry has over 90 of its 44,000 worldwide members living in Belgium.The local Section has an active programme of scientific lectures aimed at a wide audience, undertakes a number of initiatives in - mostly anglophone - schools in the Brussels area such as organising demonstration lectures and chemistry competitions as part of an effort to raise the profile of chemistry there, and organises social events for members and friends.

IYC provides a stimulus to organise events which are out of the ordinary and further raise the profile of Chemistry and the section amongst those with whom we are in contact.
