About:

I am a chemist and have been working with research and teaching in Chemistry all my professional life. Based on this experience it appears that, at this particular moment in time, Chemistry may hold the key to many complex issues related to sustainable development and the proper management of natural resources. Convincing society of Chemistry's potential oontributions may not be a simple matter, however.

The ability of chemists to communicate with the public still leaves much to be desired. In general, Chemistry is still associated with problems of the past and not solutions for the future. IYC 2011 can attract much attention to Chemistry as it is practiced today and provides an excellent opportunity to promote new approaches and devise multiple pathways toward an honest exchange of ideas with concerned citizens. Chemists must not miss this chance!
