The Department of Chemistry at the University of the West Indies (UWI) in Kingston Jamaica has formed a committee to plan a series of activities to mark IYC 2011 in Jamaica.

IYC 2011 is being pointed out to high school children visiting the university in a series of preparation workshops during the week of Jan 17- 21, 2011.

January 27-28 are celebrated as Research Day at the UWI and will be used as a 'soft launch' of IYC 2011 in Jamaica; coincidentally these are the same days of the official IYC2011 launch in Paris.

We are collaborating with local businesses to emphasize the link between chemistry and entrepreneurship. Several major events are being discussed and will be announced as soon as they are finalized.
