    Chemistry Department Information
Harvard University’s Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology (CCB) is proud to continue a long standing tradition of research and scholarship in the field of molecular sciences. The faculty is composed of 37 full-time, affiliate, research, and emeritus members, along with over 425 individuals comprised of graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and undergraduates. Research activities conducted by the CCB extend from core disciplines of organic, inorganic, and physical chemistry into interdisciplinary frontiers of the life and physical sciences. A strong and diverse community, with collaborative exchanges among other Harvard departments and outreach activities to the Harvard student body and the greater Cambridge/Boston area and beyond. The effect of CCB’s research efforts can be quantified in a number of ways, by Nobel Prizes (6 total, 3 to current faculty members), impact factor metrics (holders of the 3 top “Hirsch Index” scores in chemistry), and through honorary societies memberships (17 current members of the National Academy of Sciences). Many undergraduates, graduate students, and postdocs have gone on to hold a variety of noteworthy positions in industry, government and academia throughout the world.
