Chemistry Department Information
The Department of Chemistry is endowed with outstandingresearch facilities and top-flight research staff that run these facilities. Our physical footprint on campus was significantly expanded in 2007 with the opening of Simon Hall in the yard between Chemistry and Biology, in the oldest and most historic part of IU’s beautiful campus. This award-winning building has catalyzed new collaborative science among faculty in the departments of Chemistry, Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry, Biology and Physics.

The history of the domain extends back to 2008 when it was selected to be used as the host domain for the International Year of Chemistry 2011 as designated by UNESCO and as an initiative of IUPAC that celebrated the achievements of chemistry.
