Global Experts Explore the Future of Sustainable Chemistry
The discussion continues @ futurewecreate.comSep 5, 2011
Following the initial virtual conference on The Future of Sustainable Chemistry first released on August 16, Dow is inviting all of us to continue the discussion.
On Tuesday, Aug. 16, following Dow’s invitation, 30 leading global thinkers virtually convened during The Future of Sustainable Chemistry , a virtual conference, to explore how sustainable chemistry can be used to help solve some of the world’s most complex challenges. The 30 speakers presented in the online conference are on the forefront of sustainable chemistry, striving to understand, teach and facilitate an important shift occurring in chemistry today. [more]
During the online conference at futurewecreate.com, participants had the opportunity to engage in a real-time online discussion, building a rich global dialogue. The presentation is a valuable contribution to the ongoing conversation about furthering sustainable chemistry. With that in mind, DOW invites us to continue the investigation through a five-week follow up series. Starting Monday, August 22nd, each week, leading experts will explore a different theme related to chemistry, its impact on our planet, and its critical role in solving some of our greatest global challenges:
Week 1, Aug 22: The Big Picture: The History of Chemistry and an Introduction to Sustainable Chemistry
Week 2, Aug 29: Sustainable Chemistry Education and Whole Systems Thinking
Week 3, Sep 5: The Importance of Collaboration
Week 4, Sep 12: Applications of Chemistry to Solving Our Global Challenges
Week 5, Sep 19: The IUPAC World Chemistry Congress 2011, On Location in San Juan
Videos are being posted each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
Thank you for your interest. Your participation means a great deal as we all strive to explore and define the frontiers of such an important aspect of our shared future.
- The Future of Sustainable Chemistry is the 3rd virtual conference in The Future We Create series. The first and second virtual conferences, The Future of Women in Chemistry and Science, and The Future of Water, were held earlier in the year, as part of Dow’s commitment to help encourage interest in chemistry among young people, and to generate enthusiasm for the creative future of the science during the International Year of Chemistry (IYC).
